The Guangdong Provincial Museum is a major tourist attraction in the city of Guangzhou. Guangzhou is well connected to major cities by a well developed network of rail, river, air, road, and sea. The Guangdong Provincial Museum has been built on the original site of the Zhongshan University. It located on Wenming Road, in Guangzhou. The Guangdong Provincial Museum was officially opened for public viewing in the year 1959. Its construction had been started in 1957. The museum comprises of two separate buildings. This includes the Lu Xun Memorial Hall. The new building underwent quite a lot of renovation in the year 1992. The Guangdong Provincial Museum is spread over an area of about 29,000 square meters.
The Lu Xun Memorial conducts exhibitions related to the life, and works, of Lu Xun, and others who were instrumental in bringing about modernization in China. This was one of the factors that heralded the birth, and rise of Communism in China.

Exhibits include ancient Chinese pottery, and evidences of foreign cultures, and influences in the region, to mention a handful of the vast and interesting collection that the Guangdong Provincial Museum has on display for visitors.
